Transcript for "How KwikSign launched six months faster with Nutrient’s Web SDK signing solution":
Hey, everyone. Thanks for joining us today for our client demonstration webinar, where we're gonna see firsthand how QuickSign saved months of development time by leveraging Nutrien's SDKs and their very popular digital signing app. I'm Greg Ives, and I'm with the product marketing team here at Nutrien. And joining me today is CEO of KwikTrust, the maker of QuickSign, Simon Reed. Simon, it is an absolute pleasure to have you present today. Hi, Greg. Thanks for inviting me. It's a real pleasure to be here. Looking forward to the, to the event. Absolutely. So are we. Alright. So before we jump into our presentation, I do need to cover a few housekeeping items. We know everyone has tons to do, so we're gonna keep today's event to around twenty minutes or so. If you have any questions during today's webinar, you can just find the q and a functionality on the right hand side of your screen and submit them there. You'll see that we you'll also see that we prerecorded today's actual demo portion of the webinar so that Simon is available to answer any questions that you have along the way. And then finally, yes, the webinar is being recorded and will be available on demand on our site. Alright. That brings us to today's agenda. To start things off, I'm just gonna give a quick sixty second overview of Nutrien and how we help customers like Simon. Then we'll jump into why you're here today, and that's to learn more about QuickSign and how they leverage our SDKs within their digital signing app. And then at the end, we have saved a little bit of time for a few questions. Alright. So to kick things off, you're likely aware by now that we underwent a complete company rebrand late last year. Whether you knew us before as PS PDF kit, Mahembe, forklift, aqua forest, or even Integrify, we are now Nutrient. Same company with all the same technology, just now rebranded under a single banner with a single mission, to evolve how humans experience and interact with documents. Whether it's our industry leading SDKs, our ever evolving cloud based document web services, our m three sixty five low code solutions, or even our workflow automation platform. Our unrivaled breadth of document solutions help businesses like yours move beyond that all too common, you know, list of limitations that you've had since the nineties so that you can ultimately accelerate innovation and growth. Here at Nutrient, we are thrilled to be your partner for tomorrow's document innovations. Alright. Which brings us to today's demo. As a product marketer, my favorite part of the day is talking to customers like Simon all about the ways that they use our technology to help end users. That's why I'm excited for you to see firsthand how KwikSign makes it super easy for companies to sign files from anywhere, at any time, and on any device. The KwikSign platform combines data management with file authentication and signature capabilities and is typically used for due diligence, compliance, and signing agreements. But enough talking, I'm gonna hand it over to Simon so that we can see what this looks like in action. Hello. My name is Simon. I'm gonna give you a demonstration of the quick sign esignature and file validation product. So first of all, this is our opening screen. I'm gonna take it through the process of creating a brand new account. Let's call this nutrient. So accept the t's and c's. I'll create the account. The way that we handle the login process is it's a one time password process. So I'm just waiting for that password to pop in, and I can continue to complete the registration. So my password is seven seven one nine nine nine. Continue. I'm gonna sign up as an individual today. My alternative is to sign up as part of an organization. So if I work for a company that has an existing account, I could select the second option. But for the purposes of this quick demo, I'm gonna register as an individual. The basic package, as you can probably see here, is free. The upgrade packages includes additional features such as KYC or identity checks, large amounts of storage, additional seats as well. But for the purposes of of today, we're just gonna set a a simple free account, and that's it. Very, very simple to, to do. The way that this works, it works on a file and a project structure. So from this point, we can create a new project. Let's call it project one. We're here to look at the signature process, which is the component that Nutrient have provided to KwikTrust to make our platform work. So I've created this as a project. I could go into this a little bit deeper. Within a project, you can create separate folders. The reason we have this is because KwikTrust can be used for doing due diligence exercises as well as signing simple documents. It can be used as a data room so you can upload different files into different project folders and have those checked by the third party that's issued them. Very, very useful as a due diligence tool for investment rather raising investment, so you get your data room set up beforehand. Or if you're an investor, then you can use this as a tool to have the documents uploaded and validated. I'm gonna skip this step, but this will create a folder structure. And as I mentioned before, we can create multiple folders. So we're gonna skip this step. I'll go through the process of uploading a file and showing how that's signed. As we do that, I'm gonna point out also that the platform handles not just ordinary documents. It can so when I say ordinary documents, I'm talking about contracts that might be signed, but you can also upload different formats. So Excel is something we can upload. For example, if your accountant or your bookkeeper prepared the accounts in an Excel format, they could be uploaded and signed as being completed, checked, whatever the the purpose might be. So different file types that can be uploaded, Word and PDF documents, which are most common for esignatures, of course, but also Excel spreadsheets as I mentioned, and even things like video files, audio files, anything that you might want to have checked and validated by a third party, as well as having signature capabilities, which is putting a physical mark onto the document. We can also have a file just validated. So let me move through this demo. So I've uploaded something that I've called test document, which is something that I've created today. I'm gonna put this into a category as contract, a contract. I'm not gonna sign it to a project or project folder within a project. Actually, I will manage the project because it creates project one. I haven't created any project folders, but that's part of the organization structure. Of course, this section here is expiry date. This is quite useful if you have, for example an agreement with a supplier maybe that comes up periodically for renewal. So when you're uploading and signing your documents, if a contract expires at a given date In the future, the KwikSign product will give you a notification. So, you know, for example, if we had a relationship with a customer sorry, a supplier that sold us services for a twelve month period. Before that twelve month period expires, this system will send you a notification to say, hey. Your contract's gonna expire next month, which gives you an opportunity to extend the contract, look for alternative suppliers, for example. So that's an optional extra that we've we've built into this File description, test file one, four. It's called the Nutrient demo. And then I upload the file, which is it's fairly quick. I would then continue to the next stage. As I mentioned before, we can do either physical signature or validate the authenticity. Today, we're gonna put a physical mark on the contract. But by validate authenticity, what that means is a different file format. Let's say it's a video, for example. So if I've made a video with somebody else, maybe we've jointly owned the copyright, I could upload it onto the KwikSign platform. KwikSign also uses digital ledger or blockchain technology. So every time a document is uploaded or signed or validated, it gives a date and time stamp on a blockchain for those that use blockchain or are familiar with its workings. Basically, you can't change something that's on a blockchain. It's a permanent tamper proof record. So in the field of digital signatures, it's it's a really useful tool. So in this case, I'm gonna select a physical signature. Put a note here to say please sign. It's either say please review and sign where indicated. So this would be my message to the the other recipients. So I'm gonna add a recipient. I'm gonna call it John Jones. Enter the email of the signatory john at dot co. Signing options, excuse me, must sign or can't sign. The purpose of that is if John doesn't need to sign this file, I would select the must sign. We may prefer that John just has visibility. So maybe John is a manager, a department that issues a lot of contracts, so he could be added as somebody who have visibility of contracts. So we could select this, which means that again John would have visibility, would come into his inbox, he could review the documents, but he wouldn't be required to physically sign it for that document to be complete. For today, we're going to say it must sign. This next section is for an identity check. Within the KwikSign platform, we've built in KYC or identity checks. The reason for doing that is some agreements are super sensitive, particularly important. So for an added layer of security, we could request the other person or the counterparties signing this agreement go through an ID check. What that means in practice is that when they receive the notification asking them to review and sign the document they would have to go through a KYC process which is relatively straightforward. We've probably all done it with every bank accounts etcetera. They will be asked to upload a copy of their passport or driver's license or national ID card and then take a selfie. And what the system does is it does a biometric check, makes the comparison between the selfie and the image contained within the license or passport or ID card, and then gives it a tick or or across. Most of these go go through very quickly. I think it's less than one percent might need some manual intervention, but most go through. This is a really useful tool. We've actually used it ourselves. We had without going into the details, we had an organization that approached us for with an offer of investments. We were slightly suspicious about who they were and their identities and the source of the origins of the monies. So we agreed to sign a nondisclosure with them what we asked them to sign a nondisclosure, sending the NDA through to the potential investors. We requested an ID check, which they refused to do. And their boss refused to do it, and then another person refused to do it. They also did have computer problems that day. What we deduced from that was that they weren't who they claimed they they were. You know, there was some other evidence as well that showed that their their identities weren't weren't real. So, you know, it can be super useful in the practical sense. It's not just a nice to have feature. ID checks can be can be super useful, particularly when you're working with people who are remote, who you may not have met face to face. So, you know, we we like that feature very much. It is it is very practical. For today, I'm gonna select no. I'm going to save save the recipient, which is John Jones. I'm also gonna sign this document myself. So I tick this box, and then we move on to the next stage, which is where Nutrient comes in. And this is the plug in that saved us a huge amount of time. With our dev team, we looked at building this function ourselves. It would take around about six months to produce this piece of work. It's great for us because this is a a simple plug in. So I'll just show simply show you the process. So we've got our friend John. So we can drag and drop this box wherever we need to. We can resize it as well and move it to anywhere on the screen that we that we might need to. So we pop this first signature in here. I've ticked the box as you saw to, to lock that in place, and then I'll add the second signature, which is my signature. Again, we can resize larger or smaller and position it where we might need it. Sorry. I'm not getting my cursor in quite the right place. There we go. Tick the box, and that's it. And then at the end of the process, we publish the documents and then we continue and submit. What that does is it sends out two emails. One would go to to John, The other would go to me. The email takes both parties directly through to the document, so we can see the status that's here. I can go into the document and see what status it has. So currently, we can see it's gone to John. I can send a reminder or replace a signatory with somebody else if needed. It's showing as pending because it hasn't been signed. Of course, I will show the signature from my side of the document. I'll just simply click on the sign now. This is my signature box, of course. So I have an option to draw freehand the signature. I can upload an image or I can simply type in today I'm gonna type in my signature. Click done, and then we just select a tick box to say that we understand we're signing a document and complete. And that's it. That's the process. You know, John would go through the same process when he receives the email, but if you go back into the document, we can see that has been signed at this time by me and when John signs as well. So it's also got the date, the writing is fairly small, but it's got the date when it has been signed. And as I mentioned before that's recorded onto a blockchain, so it's a permanent tamper proof records. And and that's the that's the demo. I hope that's useful. We are gonna answer some some questions, but, thanks very much for watching. Wow. Simon, what an outstanding demo. You can absolutely see why KwikSign is so popular. I especially love how you've embedded so much functionality into that app. So speaking of which, if you'd like to learn more about any of the features Simon touched on or any of, our other SDK, SDK components, we'd love to hear from you. Companies like KwikSign choose our document SDKs because we've always put developers first. It's been our driving force since day one. Whether it's our AI driven solutions or our fully secure rendering platform or even our unmatched support and documentation, our SDKs are pushing the industry forward. All right. So that brings us to the, to the end of today's presentation. But as promised, we're gonna try to answer a few questions. We also invite you to, visit Nutrient to learn about all of the solutions we provide. You'll find a ton of helpful resources like our blog, product pages, guides, and demos. Alright, Simon. We do have a few questions that have come in. Alright. The first, how long did it take you to build the platform? Oh, gosh. It probably took us about eighteen months in in total. We went through a fundraising phase as well, built a small dev team. Initially, we outsourced it, then we built our own internal team, and then we went into the build properly for probably about twelve months of solid development work and then some testing. We we hit a few kind of hiccups along the way, which is normal for any any build process. So we just wanted to make sure that the product we launched with was was really solid. So, yeah, eighteen months to get the product from kind of a a drawing board stage to to being out there in the real world with with real users, and and the product has evolved since then. You know, we don't see this as a onetime exercise. We talk to customers like any business does. We learn from their experiences, and we we build that back into our future plans. So, yeah, eighteen months was the first bit, but I think the road goes quite a long way to the future from here. That's right. Always evolving. Alright. The next one. Which functions have been provided by Nutrient? The the Nutrient functions are the signature capabilities. So as we looked at with the demo, you know, actually putting a box in the right spot on a contract is what Nutrien provided to to KwikTrust and our KwikSign products. You know, for us to build that ourselves would have taken a a very long time. You know, our devs looked at it, and they felt it was probably a six month project to build the functionality that we we wanted, which is why we looked around. We looked at other potential partners as well, but Nutrien fitted the bill better than than others for for a couple of reasons. I won't delve too deeply into it, but it just worked particularly well with our pricing model. We don't charge per signature. We have a subscription model as a freemium, so there's a free entry point, and and you can scale up if you want to use more data storage, KYC or identity checks. So it just just dovetailed very neatly with our with our our business model. So, you know, that that was the approach that we we took. But just coming back to your point, Greg, the the signature box is what fits in very nicely, so we can drag and drop position those where they need to go to. And then when it's sent out, the signatures can be applied in a number of different ways. One of those ways is you can draw, freehand your signature. For some people, that's a little bit tricky, obviously, myself included. You could upload a signature if you've got one pre prepared, or you can simply type in your your signature. So, you know, that entire workflow process is provided by by Nutrient, and it's it's very seamless as well. You know, hopefully, from the demo that we've just looked at, you can't see where the quick sign functionality that we've built ourselves finishes and and where Nutrient takes over and switches back again. So, you know, I think we've created a really seamless experience for for customers. But to summarize the Nutrient pieces, the the signature box, that process, and and being able to complete and sign the documents. Once that piece is done, we then take that data and we record it on a blockchain, which creates a permanent date and a time stamp, and that's linked to the identity of the signatories as well. But, you know, overall, I think we've come up with a pretty seamless seamless process. Excellent. Alright. Well, we you touched on before, the product, is constantly evolving. And, we have a question here, what are your future plans for the product? We're we're looking very close to AI. One of the things that we've tried to do is is, you know, a, to make this an intuitive product, but because we're operating in and around the due diligence space, data room space, you know, that's that's a market that's, you know, fraught with with dangers for for obvious things. You know, if you're going through an acquisition, which is an acquisition, selling a company, investing in a company, You've got to look very, very closely indeed at at the detail, of course. You know, I've done due diligence exercises myself, the company, acquisitions prior to building the KwikSign product, and, you know, there's a massive amount of risk and there's a massive amount of money let's say, as well if you if you miss something during that due diligence process. So one of the things we're starting to look at quite closely is how we can speed up the process of somebody looking at a contract, you know, picking out relevant clauses that they might want to look at more closely, picking out clauses that might contradict each other. You know? And if you imagine you've got thousands of documents and thousands and thousands of pages of of contracts, you know, that's a huge amount of effort and time and cost if you do that manually. So, you know, we feel that AI is a way to speed up that process. Some of the ideas that we're looking at is being able to extract from contracts, you know, summary points, as I mentioned before, potential contradictory clauses, you know, just highlighting very quickly and very efficiently what needs to be looked at in in more detail. So, you know, AI is very much part of our future road map. You know, these are questions that we've started to ask and explore with with Nutrient. I know, Greg, you're developing a product or you have a product that that might fit that need, but, we see AI as very much part of the future of of what we're doing next. Aside from that, we just wanna make it more intuitive, you know, probably reduce the number of steps from uploading a contract, having it signed and completed and and filed away. So if we can reduce the number of steps even further, that's a great thing for us. But, AI, we see very much part of the future of what we're we're doing with this product. Well, that's great. And, yes, we, we would absolutely love to help you with that. We because we completely agree about, the future of AI with the within the product. So alright. Well, that is all the time that we have for the day. If we didn't get to your question, no worries. We'll follow-up directly after the webinar. If you think of a question later, you know, and you, wanna ask it still, please reach out. We'd be happy to, answer any and all of them. And, Simon, thank you so much for your demo. I know you've given our viewers a lot of ideas to explore today. And if you'd like to learn more about for inviting me, Greg. It's been great to chat with you today. Absolutely. Yeah. This is great.
